West Pelton is about midway between

Chester Le Street
and Stanley

It's not to be confused with Pelton
or Pelton Fell

This busy, former colliery village has a crossroads at its centre. Upwards from the crossroads is Twizell Lane and West Pelton Primary School, at the top end of Twizell Lane is the vets. Across the road from the vets is the Gingling Gate, pub and restaurant. Formerly a great venue for works outings and celebrations! Sadly at time of writing in May 2007 is in a derelict state with an uncertain future?
Village amenities include a fish and chip shop, a Post Office and a corner shop.
Just down the hill from the crossroads is The Highwayman public house, further down towards Grange Villa is the Roseberry Grange golf course.

Further downhill is Grange Villa

West Pelton has a methodist chapel and also
St. Paul's church, its spire can be seen from miles around.
