Scotland is easy to get to from North East England.
For example from the Tyne Tunnel to Edinburgh is about 110 miles. Edinburgh has many attractions such as Princess Street and Edinburgh Castle. Various bus trips are available for the tourist, the royal yacht Brittania is moored at Edinburgh and worth a look around.
Also Dumfries and Galloway region are easily reached from north east england, including the picuresque Solway Firth
