Holy Island-Northumberland



Holy Island is located 8 miles south of Berwick Upon Tweed, 2 miles off the Northumberland coast, opposite Beal. It is reached by driving along the causeway at low tide. Please check tides before travelling or crossing.


Lindisfarne Castle was built in 1550 to protect Holy Island from attack. It was restored by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1903 and converted into a private home.


Lindisfarne Priory
The ruins of of this 11th century Benedictine church and monastery are situated on Holy Island.
