Robert Olley was born in 1940 at South Shields, on the North East coast of England,
He is best known for his painting 'Westoe Netty' (a netty is a local term for toilet).
The painting is a comical picture of the men's urinal that was Westoe Netty. The
toilets originally stood in Chichester Road near to it's junction with Imeary Street
and Westoe Road at South Shields.
