Bamburgh-Northumberland

Bamburgh Castle - Earliest references to Bamburgh show that it has been a royal centre since AD 547. Excavations have revealed that the site has been occupied since prehistoric times. The Norman keep was a stronghold for almost nine centuries. The remainder has been extensively restored twice. By Lord Crewe in the 1750's and by the first Lord Armstrong at the end of the nineteenth century.
